NASCAR "Man-cation"

Today was quite a special day for Daniel. Today, he enjoyed some Daddy-son bonding as he and Scott, along with good friends Ken and Jake Zylstra, drove down to Fontana to watch the NASCAR race. Every year, Scott plans a special trip with each of the boys; something that just they get to do with their Dad, without the competition for attention from siblings. So this was Daniel's special trip -- the "man-cation", as it's come to be called. They left early this morning, had a great drive down to LA, enjoyed beautiful weather, great seats, and all the excitement that 43 750-horse-power race cars, 2 F-18 fighter jets (for the national anthem fly-over), and fireworks can muster in a young boy's heart. Daniel came home tonight GLOWING from his exciting day... what great memories for our dear 6-year-old and his dad!
And they're off!
Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt Jr. racing by
The victor, Kevin Harvick, doing a burn-out after the race. Daniel commented on the smell of burning rubber!
Confetti for the winner
On their way out, they saw the drivers' trailers leaving the racetrack. (Just like Mac from the movie Cars!)

  1. Too fun! We actually drove by the race track and my Scott commented that he wondered if Scott Kostelyk was there. :)
